Premium The original Love Boat - relaxed premium cruising and Alaska expertise

Founded in 1965 and famous as the original 'Love Boat,' Princess is a premium, large-ship line that blends broad mainstream appeal with a more refined, relaxed style than mass-market rivals. Its signature hook is MedallionClass, a wearable-based service system now rolled out fleetwide.

Who Princess Cruises is for

Suits couples, older cruisers and multigenerational families who want comfortable big-ship cruising, strong itineraries (especially Alaska) and enrichment programming over nonstop thrills. Less suited to travelers chasing waterparks, go-karts and mega-resort action.

The fleet

A premium fleet of roughly 16 ships across four active classes. The newest and largest are the LNG-powered Sphere-class ships - Sun Princess (2024) and Star Princess (2025), each about 4,300 guests - followed by the six-ship Royal class (Royal, Regal, Majestic, Sky, Enchanted, Discovery), the older Grand class, and the smaller Coral class well suited to Panama Canal and Alaska sailings.

The onboard experience

Dining

Traditional and anytime main dining plus signature specialty venues - Sabatini's Italian Trattoria and the Crown Grill steakhouse fleetwide, rising to up to eight specialty options on the newest ships. OceanNow lets guests order food and drinks by Medallion to almost anywhere onboard.

Entertainment & activities

Princess Theater productions, the interactive Princess Live! lounge and the poolside Movies Under the Stars big screen that the line pioneered. Sphere-class ships add The Dome, a glass-enclosed acrobatic and show venue, plus resident Cirque-style productions.

Families & kids

Family-friendly without being a kids' theme park; the Camp Discovery youth program covers multiple age groups, and Medallion tech lets parents locate children onboard. The overall balance leans toward adults and multigenerational groups rather than thrill-seeking kids.

What's included

Base fares are cruise-only; most guests add the Princess Plus or Princess Premier package, which bundle a drinks package, Wi-Fi and crew appreciation (gratuities), with Premier adding premium drinks, specialty dining, a photo package and a shore-excursion credit.
