Luxury cruise line · 4 ships · sailing 9 regions — Small-ship 'Destination Immersion' with long days and overnights in port.
Azamara is a boutique, destination-immersion line running four nearly identical ~700-guest R-class ships. Its signature is time in port — hallmark Extended Destination Days of 10 or more hours, plus frequent overnight and late-night stays — so the ships act as floating boutique hotels between deep local experiences.
Best for well-travelled couples and solo cruisers who prioritise shoreside culture, cuisine and nightlife over big-ship amenities, and who like an intimate, country-club-casual atmosphere. Not aimed at families with young children or anyone wanting waterparks and large-scale production entertainment.
Four R-class sister ships — Azamara Journey, Azamara Quest, Azamara Pursuit and Azamara Onward — each carrying roughly 690-702 guests, all built around 1999-2001 for Renaissance Cruises. Pursuit joined in 2018 and Onward, the newest, in 2022 after a bow-to-stern refurbishment. The small scale lets them reach boutique ports big ships cannot.
The standout vessels in the fleet — and the amenities that set them apart.
One of the two founding Azamara ships and the template for the brand's intimate R-class experience.
Newest ship in the fleet; previously sailed as Renaissance's R Three and later as Pacific Princess.
Added in 2018 (formerly P&O's Adonia), the fourth R-class sister that rounded the fleet to four.
Open-seating fare includes the main Discoveries Restaurant, the Windows Cafe buffet, the Patio Grill and The Living Room. Specialty Prime C (steakhouse) and Aqualina (Italian) carry a small surcharge unless you are staying in a suite.
Small-scale and destination-flavoured. The signature AzAmazing Evenings stage exclusive private events ashore with local performers and cultural showcases, complemented onboard by cabaret, live music and enrichment talks.
Adult-oriented with no dedicated children's clubs or programming; the line markets to couples and solo travellers rather than families.
Effectively all-inclusive: standard spirits, wines and beers, soft drinks, bottled water, gratuities, self-service laundry and one AzAmazing Evening are included in the fare. Premium wines and spirits, and specialty-restaurant surcharges for non-suite guests, cost extra.
