Mass-Market European-style big-ship cruising with a luxury Yacht Club enclave

MSC Cruises is a Geneva-based, family-owned (Aponte family) line that brings a Mediterranean/European sensibility to mass-market cruising, typically at lower fares than its American rivals. Its calling cards are the MSC Yacht Club — a gated 'ship within a ship' of suites, private restaurant, lounge and pool deck with butler service — a strong sustainability push (its newest ships run on LNG), and its own private Bahamian island, Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve.

Who MSC Cruises is for

Best for value-minded families, multigenerational groups and travellers who enjoy a cosmopolitan, international crowd and a European onboard atmosphere; the Yacht Club suits those wanting a premium, exclusive enclave without paying full luxury-line prices. Less ideal for guests expecting an all-American vibe, an all-inclusive fare, or a casino-free/kids-free experience.

The fleet

A large fleet of roughly 22–23 ocean ships spanning (oldest to newest) the Lirica, Musica, Fantasia, Meraviglia and Seaside/Seaside EVO classes, topped by the flagship World class. The World-class trio — MSC World Europa (2022), MSC World America (2025) and MSC World Asia (2026) — are the biggest and most feature-packed, and along with MSC Euribia are powered by cleaner-burning LNG. Ships are large-to-mega in size with a modern, design-forward European style.

The onboard experience

Dining

Italian-leaning cuisine across multiple included main dining rooms and buffets, with paid specialty venues such as Eataly (freshly made pasta; a first-at-sea on World America), Butcher's Cut steakhouse, Kaito sushi/teppanyaki and Hola! tacos & cantina, usually bookable via dining packages.

Entertainment & activities

Broadway-style productions in the main theatre, plus MSC's signature Cirque du Soleil at Sea shows in an intimate theatre-in-the-round on Meraviglia-class ships; the LED-domed Galleria promenade and party arenas host nightly events, and thrill rides double as attractions.

Families & kids

Family-friendly, with the complimentary Doremiland youth program split into age zones from 6 months to 17 years, backed by partnerships with LEGO and Chicco, plus waterparks, bumper cars, ropes courses and dry slides on the newer ships.

What's included

Not all-inclusive by default: the base fare covers accommodation, main dining and entertainment, while drinks, Wi-Fi and specialty dining are add-on packages (e.g. Easy and Premium Extra beverage packages, which include gratuities). Yacht Club fares bundle in more amenities.
